Trudeau Institute Animal Facility Expansions & Upgrades Trudeau Institute is the leading independent research institute in the U.S. conducting research into understanding the functions of the body's immune system and learning how to strengthen these functions to fight tuberculosis, cancer, AIDS-related infections, and other life-threatening infectious diseases. Trudeau Institute has extensive facilities for animal breeding and experimentation but these facilities had become dated and required modernization. Through a series of interactions with scientific, animal husbandry, and facilities staff, Hallam-ICS was able to identify a phased plan that would allow upgrades to all of the required HVAC and Electrical systems with minimal disruption to on-going research and breeding operations. Reliability, maintenance, and energy efficiency were carefully balanced in our decisions regarding systems. The Trudeau Institute was able to upgrade the hygiene and performance of their cage washing suite, their experimental animal areas, and their animal breeding facility with a minimal disruption to their ongoing research. In addition, two different ABSL-3 areas were fit-up to assure safe handling of dangerous experimental agents and assure segregation between high risk experimentation and their breeding population. |
