Energy Management Case Studies

Vermont Technical College

The Vermont Technical College (VTC) in Randolph includes 23 buildings spread across 544 acres. Offering associate and bachelor degree programs in more than 20 technical and related fields, VTC has played an integral role in the Vermont State Colleges educational system. Recognizing their leadership role, VTC has taken an active role in promoting the education of “green” practices, including the development of a Sustainable Design & Technology curriculum.

VTC also recognizes the importance of “walking the talk” when it comes to sustainability. Wanting to make sure that the buildings on their facility were utilizing energy in an efficient manner, VTC hired Hallam-ICS to implement the Kilawatt System on their Randolph Campus.

Working closely with VTC staff, faculty and students, Hallam-ICS has surveyed and thoroughly reviewed the operations of several buildings seeking out energy savings through improved operating strategies and equipment replacements. Although early in the process, the results are encouraging.
