Calcium Carbonate Processing Facility

Dry Plant Expansion Project

In order to meet growing needs for their dry products in the Southeastern US, the client decided to expand their existing calcium carbonate processing facility in Sylacauga, Alabama.  This expansion involved the design and construction of a new calcium carbonate processing facility on their existing plant site. The client wanted to utilize a design team with extensive calcium carbonate processing plant design experience.

Hallam-ICS developed a multi-disciplinary project design team with capabilities in mechanical, electrical, controls, structural and civil engineering. Working closely with the plant personnel, and the owner’s corporate engineering staff, Hallam-ICS began the project by developing a detailed Basis of Design. The Basis of Design then provided the guidelines for the detailed design of the facility. This design was executed in 3-D using AutoCAD Building Systems software. A major portion of the design effort was focused on incorporating the specialized process equipment into the proposed building envelope, while providing for sufficient access and maintainability.

The result was that the owner was able to obtain a process and building design that met their budget and process requirements.
