In addition, Wyeth was also looking for people who shared Wyeth’s philosophy of building long-term, trusting relationships, rather than just a short-term, project based relationship. Wyeth found that Hallam-ICS fit their need, both for their technical requirements and their focus on customer service with long-term commitments. Wyeth started their upgrade plan by focusing on the four areas of the wet process system; Material Receiving, Fat Blending, Liquefying, and Compounding. But, the first step of the project was not technical, it was to form the relationship between the Wyeth team and the Hallam-ICS team. Hallam-ICS worked closely with Wyeth to understand how they expected the teams to interact, including communication frequency and type, decision making processes, plant documentation standards, and overall expectations for individuals and the team. These discussions formed the foundation of a solid relationship that would last through the five year upgrade plan. After upgrading the wet process control system, Wyeth continued to select Hallam-ICS to upgrade the control system for the CIP Kitchen, the Spray Dryer and finally, the filling and packaging systems. The plant standardized on Allen-Bradley PLC’s. Intellution FIX32 HMI and Microsoft Access formed the basis of the operator interface and batch reporting functions. Wyeth benefited from Hallam-ICS’ diverse skill sets, as Hallam-ICS provided detailed design, control system integration, panel fabrication, installation and commissioning services. In addition, Hallam-ICS’ software engineers developed Visual Basic applications to generate Batch Records for submittal.
