2011 Finishes Strong for Hallam-ICS
Hallam-ICS capped off a year of rapid growth and development that
provides a bright outlook for the future. During the year, we celebrated
our 30th Anniversary of providing engineering, control system
integration and commissioning services to our valued clients. The
Hallam-ICS approach and commitment to our clients is reflected back in
the form of long-term relationships and repeat business that averages
over 75% on yearly basis. Thank you to all of the people and companies
that have put their trust and confidence in the Hallam-ICS!

Hallam-ICS Busy with Industry Events
As
technologies and best practices evolve, industry sponsored events
present an opportunity for Hallam-ICS staff to continuously learn and
develop. In the past 2 months, Hallam-ICS has been very active with
presenting, attending and exhibiting at very valuable conferences. In
September, we attended and exhibited at the Labs21 Annual Conference in
Providence, Rhode Island and the New England Healthcare Engineers’
Society (NEHES) Fall Conference in Killington, VT. In October, we
exhibited at the annual ISPE-Boston Tradeshow in Foxborough, MA. In
November, Hallam-ICS engineers attended the joint SESHA New England and
New York State Mini-conference, including a presentation by Eugene Ngai,
a leading expert on silane safety discussing “Pyrophoric Materials in
the Semiconductor Process Industries.”

Hallam-ICS Builds Upon Healthcare Experience
The
Hallam-ICS commissioning team has recently been selected to support
three Healthcare industry projects. The three projects reflect the
diverse in nature and requirements of this industry; a Community Health
Care Center, a Nursing Home as well as an Imaging and Surgical Center
for Dartmouth Hitchcock. The Hallam-ICS team brings extensive experience
in the design, construction and commissioning of complex facilities.

A Night Out to Celebrate our 30th Anniversary
On
July 22nd, Hallam-ICS employees and spouses celebrated our 30th
anniversary on a dinner cruise on Lake Champlain. Founded as an
engineering firm in 1981 by David Hallam, the firm has provided
engineering, control system integration and commissioning & validation
services to clients across the world for the past 30 years. The
Hallam-ICS team and families enjoyed the evening out, sharing good food,
recalling stories from our past and looking forward to our future
together.
March
2011 – Hallam-ICS Builds upon Toxic Gas Monitoring System industry
leadership
Hallam-ICS has provided turn-key Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems to leading
research laboratories and semiconductor manufacturing facilities for
over 15 years. Our specialized Hazardous Production Materials (HPM) gas
monitoring/safety shutdown design and integration group has designed,
installed and integrated over 6,000 gas detection points across the
world. These points include highly toxic, toxic, pyrophoric, flammable
and oxygen deficient detection points.
Hallam-ICS has recently been selected to provide new Toxic Gas
Monitoring Systems for multiple clients. These new projects include
Global Foundries (Malta, NY), Joint School of Nanotechnology and
Nanoengineering (Greensboro, NC) and MIT-Lincoln Laboratories
(Lexington, MA). The Global Foundries facility is a $4.2 billion
facility and is anticipated to be one of the most technologically
advanced semiconductor facility in the world upon completion.

2011 – Michel Bernier Receives ASQ-Certified Calibration Technician
Hallam-ICS is pleased to announce the
Michel Bernier has been named an ASQ-Certified Calibration Technician (ASQ CCT). Michel joined Hallam-ICS
in 1999 and has extensive experience with instrumentation calibration in
a variety of industries, including the several years in the
Pharmaceutical industry.
ASQ certification is a highly regarded
industry recognized benchmark to which Calibration Technicians are
measured.
December 2010 - Hallam-ICS offers off-site web-based Calibration Management Program
Hallam-ICS has recently expanded our instrumentation calibration and metrology offerings to included off-site calibration records management for our clients. Hallam-ICS recently completed the 21 CFR Part 11 validation of our calibration management software application that allows users web-based access to the calibration records for their assets.
October 2010 - Hallam-ICS selected to support NREL's Energy Reduction Program
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory has selected a team led by Hallam-ICS to provide technical expert support for qualifying projects that aim to substantially reduce energy usage in commercial facilities. The Hallam-ICS team will provide architectural and building system review, including Advanced Energy Modeling, Daylight Analysis, Renewable Energy Options and Data Collection and Analysis.
June 2010 - Hallam-ICS presents CODES to VBSR Annual Spring Conference
Hallam-ICS was invited to present at the Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) annual spring conference. The workshop was titled "How Can Vermont Businesses Strengthen Each Other?" Hallam-ICS shared with the audience CODES™, the unique approach used by Hallam-ICS to ensure the delivery of high quality customer service on each of our projects.
April 2010: Hallam-ICS helps VSAC achieve Energy Star ranking
As reported in the Burlington Free Press on March 29, 2010, the Vermont Student Assistance Corp (VSAC) office building, completed in 2005, has earned the Energy Star ranking for energy efficiency. Hallam-ICS provided MEP design on the original project and also provided follow-up energy modeling and other assistance through the application process.
February 2010: Hallam-ICS continues to grow Albany, NY presence
Recognizing the vibrant regional economy, Hallam-ICS continues to grow our business from our office in Salem, NY. Recently, Hallam-ICS has been awarded new projects with pharmaceutical, industrial and higher education clients to provide mechanical, electrical and control system engineering services to support research and manufacturing facilities. Hallam-ICS provides engineering, control system integration and commissioning services to this region.
December 2009: Hallam-ICS adds to Instrumentation Calibration Team in Massachusetts
Due to growing demand for instrumentation installation and calibration support for biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients in the region, Hallam-ICS has added additional calibration technicians to our team in the Taunton, MA office. Recognized as a leader in the field, Hallam-ICS is currently involved in some of the largest GxP construction projects in the United States, including Novartis (Holly Springs, NC), Amylin (Hamilton, OH), Genzyme (Framingham, MA) and Shire HGT (Lexington, MA). In addition to new construction, Hallam-ICS also supports on-going calibrations at existing facilities.
August 2009: Hallam-ICS is growing in MA and NC
Due to on-going strong demand for Hallam-ICS services from our pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients, Hallam-ICS has several job openings in our Taunton, MA and Raleigh, NC offices. We are currently hiring mechanical engineers, commissioning & validation engineers and instrumentation technicians. Please refer to our Careers page for a detailed listing of available jobs.
May 2009: Hallam-ICS completes Arc Flash and GAMP 5 Training
Recognizing the need to stay on the leading edge of technology and industry best practices, Hallam-ICS invests a significant amount of money and time into training. Recently, over 15 Hallam-ICS engineers and field technicians attended a ½ day OSHA seminar on Arc Flash. In addition, Hallam-ICS employees attended a recent ISPE training course on GAMP 5. The Hallam-ICS team uses proven and innovative approaches to help our clients meet their project needs.
April 2009: Hallam-ICS completes Branding & Training Study
With an eye to towards building for the future, Hallam-ICS hired marketing and training consultants to lead the company through a Branding & Training Study. As part of this program, Hallam-ICS interviewed nearly 100 clients and all of our employees to better understand the needs that our clients and employees foresee in the future to meet their business plans. The feedback received was extremely valuable and has played a key role in the development of a strategic training plan for Hallam-ICS.
April 2009: National Life receives Governor’s Award
National Life of Vermont was recognized by Vermont Governor Jim Douglas with the Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence. The award recognized National Life’s commitment to the environment. National Life selected Hallam-ICS in 2006 to begin working with them as they became one of the first in Vermont to pursue LEED-Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) for their headquarters in Montpelier, VT. Hallam-ICS has worked closely with National Life since that time on many projects in support of their LEED-EB application. Hallam-ICS has been selected as the Instrumentation Contractor for two major Life Sciences projects on the East Coast. Genzyme has chosen Hallam-ICS for their $100 million Cell Culture Expansion project in Framingham, MA and Novartis has hired Hallam-ICS for their $600 million Vaccine Manufacturing Facility in Holly Springs, NC. Hallam-ICS is a leader in the industry utilizing the Hallam-ICS Metrology Database to manage the life cycle of an instrument from specification to “green tag” status: including procurement, receipt, bench test, installation, loop check and final calibration.
