Krishna P. Singh Center for Nanotechnology

The Krishna P. Singh Center for Nanotechnology (CFN) is the region’s premier facility for advanced research, education and innovative public private partnerships in nanotechnology. The building has been recognized nationally and internationally with 2013 American and International Architecture Awards. The facility consists of four floors. Major science program components include a 10,000 GSF Characterization Suite with numerous large scanning and transmission electron microscopes (TEM), a 10,000 GSF cleanroom Fabrication Suite, and ten laboratory modules for optics and chemistry research. Architectural program components include a large three- story galleria, a monumental stair that connects all four floors, and a cantilevered multi-purpose space on the third floor.

The project team set out to achieve LEED Silver Certification and selected Hallam-ICS to serve as the Principal Commissioning Agent, providing services according to LEED Fundamental (EAp1) and Enhanced (EAc3) Commissioning requirements for the characterization and fabrication suites, laboratories, process utilities and support spaces. Upon completion, the project exceeded initial goals and was recognized with LEED Gold Certification.
