My Hallam Story

Computers and information technology have always been a passion of mine ever since I was young. Throughout grade school and high school, I would often be one of the only females participating in technology and computer related classes.  During open study halls in high school I would often go to the shop and assist other students with soldering components of motherboards together.

For some reason, I did not consider a technology related field when I chose my bachelor’s degree program. Instead I chose Business Management and Accounting. When it was time to do the required 120-hour internship I applied to an accounting internship at a federal agency.  After interviewing for the intern position I was offered a position as a technology intern. Apparently, the team that interviewed me thought I would be better suited for the technology intern position that they had available. I sort of remember a few random IT support related questions during my interview but did not think anything of it at the time. It turns out that this team was right and I later ended up pursuing my Masters of science in Managing Innovation and Information Technology.

After earning my Masters, I started looking for a more challenging job in the private sector. I had previously been working for State and Federal government agencies and was ready for a change. I found out about the open IT position at Hallam-ICS through indirect networking at a winery concert. When I started doing research on Hallam, prior to my interview, I remember coming across a My Hallam story on LinkedIn about a dog that likes to ride the elevators (Sam Kurowski). After reading a few of the other My Hallam stories I decided that Hallam seemed like a fun and innovative company to work for. I am excited about joining the Hallam IT team and look forward to providing IT services that will help the company grow.
