MEP Engineering

New call-to-action

Kosuke Fujiwara, PE| Mechanical Engineer

When I joined Hallam in 2021, I had been working as a mechanical engineer for a little over ten years.

I first started working as a mechanical engineer in Kobe, Japan – where I grew up – manufacturing boat propellers. Around 2010, I moved to California for graduate school, where I got my Masters in Environmental Science and Management from the Bren School. After graduate school, I returned to the mechanical engineering world and enjoyed working in a variety of industries from industrial scale refrigeration systems to HVAC systems in trains to bioprocessing equipment. I also moved cross-country from the West Coast to the East Coast.

Around the time that Keith reached out to me, I had been looking for new opportunities to challenge myself and apply my broad experience in mechanical engineering to solving new problems every day. I particularly enjoy solving tough problems related to space and scheduling. I like making the impossible schedule possible and overcoming seemingly impossible space constraints. When I heard from Keith, I thought Hallam sounded perfect for my next step.  So far, every day has brought a new and interesting challenge!

On the weekends, I like to go hiking in Blue Hills (which I recommend to anyone who has not visited!), play my ukulele (I am still learning), and try new recipes. Once I find a good fit, I am loyal to it. I have been using the same mechanical pencil for over 15 years. I hope this is just the start of a long journey for me with Hallam.
