Michelle Bergstrom | Accounts Payable Specialist

Since 2006, I have been responsible for all the accounting work for the business my husband acquired in 2000. As in most small family businesses, I also rolled up my sleeves to help with production and installation of the signs and graphics we had produced. At the beginning of 2023 my husband and I made the hard decision to close our family business.

In November I decided that it was time to start my job search. I met with other companies, but nothing felt like the right fit. It was important to me to work at a place that not only valued its employees but was also engaged in supporting the community. I saw the posting for the job at Hallam and honestly, although I am a native Vermonter, I did not know much about the company. After a little research I was very excited about the possibilities.

In my interviews and talking with everyone I encountered during that process, I knew Hallam was the place for me. I was impressed by the encouragement of the work-life balance through a flexible schedule, to the ESOP structure, and the company’s social mission.

I feel lucky to be here and look forward to becoming a valued contributor to the accounting team, to the office culture and to Hallam’s social mission.
