I started working at Hallam in South Burlington about a year ago, and I work approximately one day per week. My work day starts off with a car ride, followed by a walk around the Hallam building, followed by (this is the best!) a ride in a giant metal box with weird doors that moves me from the ground floor to the 2nd floor (I don’t really like walking upstairs anymore). Hallam doesn’t design elevators, but if we did, I’m sure they would be the best elevators (but I digress). On the days I report to the office, there always seems to be much excitement… two legged employees, four legged employees, all waking around at the same time. It would be sheer craziness if there was a squirrel in the office too. Most importantly however, some of the two legged employees bring me treats throughout the day.
The office is kind of nice, they just installed new carpeting that doesn’t smell like me… yet. I start the morning by wandering through the cubicles, followed by food, water, and a nap. Nothing starts the day off better than a nap. My work space has a bed. I highly recommend a memory foam mattress with an egg crate top and a washable cover. Hallam doesn’t engineer beds, but if we did, I’m sure they would be the best beds (but I digress, again). Napping. I’m fairly well versed in napping. My day normally consists of sleeping, running in my sleep, and waking up so I can go back to sleep. In the middle of the day; I walk down the stairs, around the building, and back up the elevator, so that I can take a nap. It’s a grind, but someone’s got to do it. Every once in a while, I hear someone say that they wish they could take a nap too, especially after lunch. I think not. I’m the best at napping, so I shall keep this job. I’ve even thought about asking Keith Flaherty if he would promote me to Manager of Napping, but every time I get around to actually asking, I need to take a nap. Unfortunately for me and my professional aspirations, I’ve heard that some other employees might be better at napping than me. I’m Sam, I nap at Hallam, and I’m a dog.
