Tony Russo | Controls Engineer

After returning from my Senior internship at the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source, the search to secure a job for after graduation began. This is when I was first introduced to Hallam by a fellow Mechatronics alumnus. This alumnus was presenting to seniors about job opportunities in his current company but after approaching him after his presentation and discussing what kind of job I was looking for; he recommended Hallam as the perfect place and gave me Aaron Grooms number. Unfortunately, the next thing coming nobody expected and my academic and athletic careers was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic.

After being shipped home and the world being on lockdown, I received a job offer from a Pharmaceutical company as an Associate Controls Engineer. Not knowing when the world would open back up and being able to commute to work from home, I decided to take this opportunity. Little did I know, I was going to supporting the plant 24/7 with no senior guidance. Ironically, I’m very grateful of this sink or swim situation because it helped me learn an incredible amount of information and develop critical skills very quickly.

This is when I was approached by the same person and company, I had heard about years prior. Aaron contacted me about an open position here at Hallam and I was beyond excited for the opportunity. Getting the jump start I did and now being able to work with and get guidance from all the controls engineers here at Hallam, I am sure I will continue to learn and excel in my career. I am excited for the opportunity and I can’t wait to develop my Hallam story even more.
