My journey with Hallam began in a more unusual place than most of my coworkers. Trigo in Willimantic, sharing a pizza with Jamie and his son Jackson. I had reached out to Jamie a few weeks prior with no knowledge that Hallam even existed. Cars have always been my passion, specifically Pontiac Fieros. So, when I found a rare engine that was a piece of Pontiac history I was determined to learn its story. A story that involved Jamie Spalding almost 20 years prior. Once I tracked down Jamie, we decided to meet for dinner so he could fill me in on everything he knew about that engine. At dinner he asked me if I was going to school and what I was interested in. After telling him that I was going to UConn to earn an Electrical Engineering degree, he began to tell me about Hallam. Based on my outgoing personality and strong work ethic he asked me if I would be interested in applying for an internship with Hallam the following summer.

After interviewing with Lead Electrical Engineer Mark Felgate, I joined Hallam as an intern in the Middletown, CT office. As I learned more about the company’s work and values, I was hooked. I had the opportunity to work with the Southern New England Electrical Team, where everyone was not only highly skilled but also genuinely collaborative and supportive. I quickly felt like part of the team while gaining valuable industry experience. Since then, I’ve continued working with the team in both full-time and part-time roles, building on what I learned and taking on new challenges along the way.

Like many other Hallamites have expressed, even before visiting the office for the first time I felt like a part of the team, but even more importantly I felt like part of a family. I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge learning from the talented engineers here, and I continue to grow every day through the opportunities and challenges I’m given. The connections and friendships I’ve built at Hallam are incredibly meaningful to me, and I’m excited to keep developing both personally and professionally as part of the team.
