Hallam-ICS is an employee-owned engineering firm and Benefit Corporation. Our purpose is simple: what’s important to you becomes everything to us - from safety and performance on the job to meaningful impact beyond it. We formalized our commitment by adopting a general public benefit of creating a material positive impact on society and the environment, and a specific public benefit of advancing broad-based employee ownership.

How We Support Our Communities

Our Giving Tree committee (founded in 1999) is made up of employee-owners who evaluate requests and direct donations where they’ll do the most good in the communities where we live and work.

  • In 2024, the Giving Tree donated $80,000 to local nonprofits.

  • Funding focuses on community needs such as youth & families, education & STEM, food & housing security, health & wellness, animal welfare, and environmental stewardship.

  • Grant decisions are transparent and employee-driven.

We build time into our calendar to serve. Teams roll up their sleeves for hands-on projects—packing meals, Habitat builds, STEM mentoring, community clean-ups, and more.

  • 518 Service Day hours volunteered by employees in 2024.

  • 256 paid volunteer hours made available to employees to support causes they care about.

  • Multi-office participation ensures support reaches all Hallam-ICS regions.

We are creating a material positive impact on society and the environment that builds a legacy for our employees, their families, their communities, and our clients.
Social responsibility is a cornerstone of our company mission that we live out every day with initiatives such as the Hallam-ICS Giving Tree, our annual Service Days, the Hallam-ICS Award for Community Service, our 40 Weeks of Giving to celebrate our 40th anniversary in 2021, and many others.

Employee-Led Giving

Since 1999, our employee-led Giving Tree directs donations to organizations focused on children & families, STEM education, food & housing security, animal welfare, environmental conservation, and emergency aid.

OUR FOUNDER'S VISION

Originally drafted on June 1, 1999 by David M. Hallam

The careful & responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care.

From the beginning, the people of Hallam-ICS have understood that what we do here is not just for the benefit of us or our families, but also for the future benefit of generations to come.

Stewardship means that we each we each understand that this company is not “mine”, but that we are each entrusted, for a time, with the responsibility and benefits of this renewable resource.

The core values that are widely shared in the organization and serve as guiding concepts of what is ‘right.’

Hallam-ICS is a company with high ethical and moral standards, where trusting and nurturing others is an important part of our daily lives. The basic foundations for all of our relationships are:

Style reflects the norms people act on and how they work and interact with each other and with customers.

We place people in leadership positions based upon their abilities to lead, make clear decisions, teach and inspire others.

Hallam-ICS is comprised of core divisions, providing facilities engineering, commissioning, systems integration and safety services . Each core division must complement each other so that collectively we are a stronger company.

Hallam-ICS is dedicated to coaching and teaching others. We cross-train our staff to increase our flexibility and growth potential. And we hire staff, which demonstrates
knowledge and leadership capabilities, with the intent to grow.

The formal systems and procedures, including management, performance, rewards, planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and information systems.

Hallam-ICS has clear and accurate reporting and measurement systems which enable Managers to make timely decisions based on the financial condition for the company, profit centers and projects.

The distinctive competencies that reside in the organization.

Hallam-ICS defines the competencies of all staff positions, educates our staff
on these required competencies and measures performance. Our competency
requirements include technical, management and interpersonal skills knowledge.

Profits cannot be the single objective of a successful business.

Profits are the result of operating a successful business... The financial bottom line is only one factor in our decision-making process. However, if we are successful in implementing the above we see financial profits.
