My Hallam Story

Daniela Nicola | Electrical Designer

I am a graduate of the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest. After graduating I worked for three years as a transportation engineer in a train triage yard where I supervised the daily operations.

I came to the US in 1981 and started classes at the Graduate school of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Oklahoma, while working for the Physical Plant department of the university. When a position became available I took the opportunity of working as a computer programmer with OU. In 1987, after traveling around the country looking for a place to settle for good, I moved to Connecticut with my family.

Between 1987 and 2008 I worked as a computer programmer analyst for the Union Trust Bank, Ames Department Stores and SNET, which became AT&T. In 2008, at the advice of my husband, I started to learn REVIT on my own. Also between 2011 and 2012 I went to the Sacred Heart University and I took Computer Database Design classes. When an opening emerged at my husband’s company, Fletcher Thompson, I started working in the Electrical department under the guidance of electrical engineers. I gradually gained more experience in working in Revit and the electrical field.  As an engineer and computer analyst I enjoy electrical design, working in Revit and staying busy and useful.

When the opportunity of working with Hallam-ICS came up a few months ago, I was excited and I hope the new association will give me the chance to apply my knowledge and potential.

For fun and relaxation I like to work in the garden; I take pride in my 2+ lb pink tomatoes.
