Process Control and Plant Automation

New call-to-action

Greg Tompkins | Controls Engineering

After completing my engineering degree at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica NY, I found myself working at an industrial heating equipment manufacturer. I started life there in an electrical engineering position, but not long after moved into controls design for custom process heating equipment. It didn’t take me long to realize that I really enjoyed taking a complex piece of equipment and tying all the pieces together into one cohesive system.

The next step in my journey found me working for a systems integrator, supporting a large biopharmaceutical site. This found me going from designing control systems for single pieces of equipment, to a large project site full of different types of equipment. The diversity of programming versions and languages, all integrated together to work as a single process left an impression on me.

As I began to find myself growing more confident in my skills, I felt that it was time to start looking further afield. Not long after, I was contacted by Keith Flaherty and decided to start the conversation about Hallam ICS. The passion and deep understanding of systems integration and engineering that I encountered while going through the interview process gave me the impression that Hallam would be a great step forward in my career. My experience with Hallam ICS has been awesome, and I look forward to further developing my skills and using them to make quality systems for our clients.
