Josh Felgate | Electrical Engineer

I have little to say about career or life experience. Having just graduated from college, those chapters of the story have yet to be filled. What I can say is that I grew up always wanting to be an engineer. Sometimes as a kid I may have said I wanted to be an artist, or sometimes a mathematician, but what is an engineer if not both of those things? I remember sitting down with my father in middle school and building a model of a solar powered house for a school project, this being the first but hardly the last instance of my interest in renewable energy sources.

Ultimately, the next steps of my path were solidified  by entering college with a decision to major in Electrical Engineering. Throughout the education I received, the desire to pursue a future in renewable energy systems never left. The one thing I needed was experience and understanding of power systems, which I find is best received by working with those systems directly, and so enters Hallam-ICS.

It’s not hard to believe I was familiar with Hallam as a company. By the time I started here my father had just completed his fifth year. It’s also not hard to understand why I would desire to work for Hallam, as I can only listen to my mother go on about how great of a company Hallam is before starting to believe it myself. Though I did not have much experience to offer, I found a place in an intern role with the Arc Flash service branch that took the form of a full time job a year later. In the short time I’ve been here I’ve grown to appreciate Hallam-ICS more and more. It’s a place with good people, that’s good to its employees, and I’m excited to see where my place in the company will develop as I continue to add chapters to my own story.
