I first learned of Hallam-ICS during the famed job search of senior year spring while at the University of Vermont. One fateful day, my advisor and Power Electronics professor pulled me aside and mentioned that a former student had reached out with news that his company, Hallam-ICS, was looking to hire and train a brand-new electrical engineer in their South Burlington office. As a soon-to-be graduate in a job market that seemingly required 10 years of professional experience for an entry-level position, this was music to my ears. I had also been hoping to stay in Vermont, so I immediately looked up the company. I found that they did engineering contracting and were involved in the power industry, two things that were of huge interest to me. Beyond that, the company values seemed to be very much aligned with my own. I applied for the position and shortly after had an interview where I met Bill Neuburger, Mark Felgate, Tori Kushner, and Daniel Morton. Despite my nerves, I had a great time talking with them and learned a lot in just the short conversations that we had. Everyone was kind, easygoing, and clearly passionate about their work and the company. I knew right away that I wanted to work at Hallam-ICS too, and when I got the call that it was official, I was over the moon.
Since starting, my excitement has only amplified. I have felt welcomed and like a part of the team from my first day, and every day since has come with a new opportunity to learn something fascinating and expand my skills as an engineer. Each person is so generous with their time and truly cares about their peers, always offering their support voluntarily and never hesitating to help when asked. This culture makes it easy to enthusiastically tackle new work and succeed. This effort is then reflected back towards us from the company, and it truly feels like we are valued as both employees and as people.
