We approach our work from a Whole Facility Design Perspective, resulting in elegant, efficient engineering solutions that are practical and reliable, maximizing your long term benefit from your facility.
Challenge
Hallam-ICS was contracted to design a dual chamber spray booth for preparation and supersonic particle deposition of aluminum powder.
The preparation chamber used aluminum oxide blasting and included a 10,000 cfm downflow dust collection system with cyclone and a conditioned make-up air system. The spray chamber included a gantry system, robotic spray equipment, classified lighting fixtures, fire protection, a 10,000 cfm dust collection system with wet scrubber, and conditioned make-up air system.
Solution
Hallam-ICS’s scope included general arrangements, design of both dust collection and make-up air systems, lighting layouts to meet owner specifications, and design of power and utilities.
We also ensured compliance with NFPA 652 and 484 as well as following ACGIH guidelines for dust collection system design.
Results
Our team accomplished the following:
- Designed a dual-chamber spray booth with advanced dust collection systems, meeting rigorous safety and environmental standards.
- Integrated specialized features, including robotic spray equipment, classified lighting, and fire protection systems, ensuring functionality and compliance with owner specifications.
- Delivered a complete design package adhering to NFPA 652, NFPA 484, and ACGIH guidelines, ensuring operational safety and regulatory compliance.
