
Short Circuit Coordination & Arc Flash Analysis
The goal of the inspection was to record potential issues that may be present throughout the electrical system.
Challenge
Hallam-ICS was selected as a National Arc Flash Vendor to conduct short circuit coordination and arc flash analysis to determine potential arc flash incident energy levels at 18 sites. With safety being the number one priority, this client recognized the importance of knowing these values so that their employees and contractors can select the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when working on, or examining energized electrical equipment.
Solution
Hallam-ICS ‘s role was to conduct extensive field surveys to acquire the needed information of the electrical distribution system which was utilized to conduct each analysis. Once completed, qualified training was provided to personnel to understand the specific hazards associated with electrical energy and safety related work practices and procedural requirements.
The benefit to the Client was that each facility was in total compliance with OSHA 29 CFR-1910 and NFPA 70E standards including properly labeled equipment.
