Beverage Industry Confidential Client: Packaging Line Isolation
A fast-track design/ build/ installation for a GMP facility.
Challenge
The company’s product development roadmap required a fast-track design/build installation of an enclosure to surround an existing packaging machine in their facility operating under GMP rules.
Our client had a 5-week window to deliver the completed project to meet these environmental requirements:
- Provide a 10% relative humidity and 75-degree Fahrenheit dry-bulb temperature environment
- Maintain the enclosure air pressure below the surrounding space to prevent product contamination
Solution
Hallam-ICS acted as the general contractor for the project. We teamed with an architect and sprinkler designer to provide needed specialty services. We also worked directly with several contractors including mechanical, sprinkler, electrical, construction and the dehumidification equipment vendor. Hallam-ICS exercised careful delineation of scopes, clear communication and judicious engineering to lead the team to a successful project. The team delivered a tested enclosure and dehumidification system and certificate of occupancy on the exact date the client requested.
The careful engineering and focus on the new system’s interaction with the existing building revealed potential risks of contamination. Our client was thankful for our engineer’s sharp observation skills, documentation of basic assumptions and careful calculations.
Results
Our team accomplished the following:
- Successfully delivered a tested enclosure and dehumidification system meeting GMP environmental requirements within a tight 5-week timeframe.
- Identified and mitigated contamination risks through sharp engineering insights, comprehensive calculations, and proactive documentation of system interactions.
- Achieved on-time project completion, coordinating multiple contractors and securing the certificate of occupancy on the exact client-requested date.
