Process Gas and Gas Monitoring
Implementing a secure, uniform site-wide system for enhanced safety and emergency response.
Challenge
Serving as the Process Engineering on this project, our work focused on gas monitoring system design for the entire building, including the new hazardous gas handling equipment located in dedicated closets on three floors. Our priority was to ensure the gas distribution piping adheres to the prescriptive codes, the user demands, and owner preferences.
Solution
This design included facilitating multiple owner meetings to determine the different needs and preferences for notification, annunciation, user information, and human-machine interfaces.
The owner’s budget goal was an important aspect of this project and entailed a redesign of the system to achieve budget conformance. Working with the client’s team and their preferred contractor will result in delivering a system that meets all requirements.
Results
Our team accomplished the following:
- Comprehensive Gas Monitoring Design: Engineered a gas monitoring system to cover the entire building, ensuring compliance with prescriptive codes, user demands, and owner preferences.
- Collaborative Customization: Conducted multiple meetings with the owner to tailor notification, annunciation, and interface designs, meeting specific operational requirements.
- Cost-Effective Redesign: Delivered a re-engineered system in collaboration with the client and contractor, aligning with budget constraints while maintaining functionality and safety standards.
