"Changing lives…one ball at a time. Our goal is to play the next ball, literally and figuratively, while being constantly aware of the opportunity to teach much more than tennis."
~Kids on the Ball
"Kids on the Ball, founded by Jake Agna in 2000, is a nationally acclaimed tennis program based in Burlington, Vermont. Over the past decades, thousands of area youth have participated in the various programs learning life skills and lessons disguised as tennis. Daily time on a tennis court with youth provides us many teachable moments. The resulting relationships are the cornerstone of a happy, healthy and well-balanced life. Kids on the Ball is about relationships and respect. We’re teaching life lessons disguised as tennis."
"I first met Jake Agna 37 years ago. Jake was the coach of our high school girls tennis team and my girlfriend (now my wife of 32 years!) was on the tennis team. Jake would always greet me (and everyone else he met) with a warm handshake, a story, and a smile. He is one of those rare individuals who has the ability to make everyone feel special.
Jake started Kids on the Ball in 2000. “Kids on the Ball is about relationships and respect. We’re teaching life lessons disguised as tennis.” For the past 20 years, Kids on the Ball has worked with youths in Burlington, VT, Springfield, MA, New Orleans, LA, and Cuba. Jake’s joy for life, infectious energy, and his impact on the lives of so many makes Kids on the Ball a perfect recipient for the Hallam-ICS 40 Years of Service, 40 Weeks of Giving campaign."
