Environmental Room Replacement - Engineering Design

We approach our work from a Whole Facility Design Perspective, resulting in elegant, efficient engineering solutions that are practical and reliable, maximizing your long term benefit from your facility.

Challenge

Pfizer required the replacement of critical environmental rooms (ENV 8B and 9B) at their Andover facility to maintain ISO-7 cleanliness standards and dual-temperature operations (2-8°C and 20°C) essential for production. The challenge was to execute the replacement while minimizing downtime for these production-critical assets.

Solution

Hallam-ICS collaborated with the cold room vendor and construction partners to design an efficient system. Initial enabling work included a chilled water sub-loop for heat rejection and a new electrical distribution system with submetering to align with Pfizer’s Net Zero goals.

Results

Our team accomplished the following:

  • Seamless System Replacement: Designed and implemented mechanical and structural upgrades for ISO-7 environmental rooms with minimal production downtime.
  • Sustainability Focus: Integrated a new electrical distribution system with submetering, supporting Pfizer’s Net Zero monitoring goals.
  • Enhanced Efficiency: Developed a chilled water sub-loop for optimized heat rejection, ensuring reliable and efficient operation of the upgraded systems.
