With Hallam-ICS Since 2026
My journey in automation and controls began around 2018. At the time, I was trying to decide what to study after a semester in Business Administration, something I quickly realized I wasn’t passionate about. While exploring other options, I came across a degree in Mechatronics. I didn’t know much about it at first, but it sounded interesting, so I decided to learn more. After doing some research, I thought, why not give it a shot?
During my first week back at school, I was walking through the halls between classes when I noticed a flyer on a bulletin board. It was for an automation apprentice role at a pharmaceutical company. I knew it was a long shot, but I decided to put my name in the hat. After several weeks of interviews, presentations, and technical exercises, I was selected as the new automation apprentice.
This opportunity allowed me to continue my education while gaining real-world experience in a manufacturing and packaging environment. It was also during this time that I was introduced to Hallam. I had the opportunity to work alongside several Hallam employees and quickly realized it was a company I hoped to join one day.
My next role focused more on SCADA and IT within a renewable energy company. There, I continued to grow my skills, particularly in networking, SCADA systems, cybersecurity, and management. While I enjoyed my time in that role, when the opportunity to join the Hallam team came along, I knew I had to take it.
It truly felt like a full-circle moment.
